This month’s club meet was hosted by Mrs Indu Singh , Mrs Orlin Z. Haque and Mrs Mehtaj Sherin.
The theme of the club meet meet was “PEACE”. The dress code was “Purple” to symbolize peace. The Prerana members attended the club meet at 4.30p.m in CSOI. The hall was well decorated with flowers and hangings depicting violence against women and beautiful quotes to show that still women needs liberation and peace.
The members were warmly welcomed by the host with purple bindi and a bracelet to show love.The starters were served. They were really mouth watering. Along with the delicacies coffee, tea and soft drinks were served. The meet began with our President’s speech. It was decided that the club’s annual meet will be held in the month of August and the monthly fee for all the members for the coming year will be Rs 250 each per month. A BIHU get together was also planned at the beginning of the month of June. Members were asked to suggest a suitable name for the upcoming BIHU get together.
Mrs Leena Khade , Mrs Vandana Singh and Mrs Priya Vinod told about their experience at “SNEHAY” an old age home for Women. They shared their experience and feelings of the inmates in the home when they received the commodities donated by Prerana. Mrs Indu Singh threw limelight on the weaver’s condition in one of the villages in the North Kamrup district. She emphasised on the present condition of women weavers and it was decided to help them by donating the weaving machine. Members were invited to visit the village and have the experience of the actual situation of those poor waever’s. These discussions were then followed by light music and two rounds of housie. The hosts were very generous and gave a number of prizes to the housie winners. This was followed by the “Balloon and Dance” game. Members were asked the pick a balloon each. They were asked to hit the balloon in the air with one hand and keep dancing for the music. Mrs Vandana Singh secured the first prize for her sportive performance, Mrs Leena Khade got the second prize and Mrs Shakuntala Mewara secured the third prize. The judges of the game were Mrs Nirupama Caire and Mrs Suman Pipersenia.
This was then followed by the food for evening. The food consisted of continental cuisine. The food was incredibly rich and was a stellar for the meet. Members enjoyed the warmth of the hosts . The hosts were really hospitable. Thanks for the lovely evening were we had constructive discussions and also enjoyed ourselves to the core.
