
On the 13th of February , Anjali Ekka, Pallavi Sahu and Aparna Singh invited the Prerana members to step into the spring season by hosting a tea party called “Fountain of Flowers”.
The guests were invited through creative invitation cards, asking them to wear their favourite color and adorn a favorite flower for the get-together.
The party was all about creativity and newness, where the hosts decided to experiment and tried many DIY ideas.
They had created a fresh and floral ambiance with predominantly white and peach colors and with a floral backdrop and a “ Hello Beautiful “ sign, to be used for photo shoots and to make every one feel welcomed and beautiful forever. Each table had been decorated artistically with flowers, twigs, leaves, pebbles, burlap ribbons and laces. Ceilings and walls had fresh flowers and colorful, handmade paper butterflies hanging like chandeliers and wall deco. A fountain too was added to the decoration to literally make the place, a fountain of flowers. They made the venue look as beautiful as Eden.
The guests arrived looking radiant and pretty in their loved colours and flowers and were thoroughly happy to step into a floral world. The afternoon started by a small welcome address by Anjali Ekka, on behalf of the three hosts. Mrs. Nandini Sharma and Mrs. Shobha Sarmah updated about Prerana’s visit and donation to the Alzhiemer Society at Hatigaon on the 8th of February. It was also suggested that workshops could be conducted to spread awareness about the diesease. The suggestion was accepted enthusistically by all.
Prerana President, Mrs. Suman Pipersenia shared about the mega Prerana event at Nagaon on the 10th of February, where Prerana donated looms to 50 BPL women. This was an extention of Prerana activities which aims to empower people and aid sustainable livelihood measures. Indu Singh and other Prerana members had worked tirelessly to make this a very successful event which saw the presence of Minister, Govt of Assam, Mr. Keshav Mahanta, Chief Secretary, Mr. V K Pipersenia and Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon, Mr. Shamsher Singh. Members expressed their gratitude to Mrs. Pipersenia who has been a great team leader and has always encouraged members to take up activities which can bring a change in the lives of others. They aprreciated the way she has given a form and order to Prerana meets and had made the activities more meaningful.
The afternoon rolled further when guests talked about their favorite color and flower over moments termed “ Conversations”. This was an interesting moment as we got to learn a few cherished feelings and memories of the guests.
Games related to the flower theme like, Guess the Name and Jumble Words were played over beverages like blue lagoon, mojito, jasmine tea and coffee and snacks like Dimsum, Momos, Dragon Rolls, Brocolli lollipop. The glasses, cups and plates were also decorated with a beautiful array of flowers.
Tambola, as always was the finale of the games but this time with many more opportunities to win prizes. The prizes for the three games were given away by Mrs. Krishna Dutta, Mrs. Krishna Barua and Mrs. Suman Pipersenia. Each prize was wrapped in colour papers and decorated with handmade flowers by the hosts themselves.
The guests then moved to the dining room for the high tea and were pleasantly astonished to see the room decorated with butterlies, flowers and candles and wine glasses. This had happened for the first time ever! The aura was made more romantic with soft, instrumental music.
Experiments were done in the food part too where new recipes were created using edible flowers to add taste , flavour and colour. Spaghetti had hibicus, Chicken for the non vegetarians and paneer for vegetarians were wrapped in banana leaves and tied with strings and flowers. Butter rice was dotted with colourful vegetables, and served with Shasilik vegetables. Dinner rolls and different types of salads went as accompaniments. The two types of desserts served, were also inspired by flowers and colours of nature and was loved by all.
It was an evening that carved out memories, inspired creativity and beauty, infused smiles and when each guest left, they, just not carried a return gift but also took away with them, a flavor and mood of contentment.
